Redwood Burl and Yew Key of G Native American Style Flute
Beautiful Native Style flute in the key of Gm from Tree of Life Designs. Bored from a solid blank of striped and figured redwood burl and trimmed with Pacific yew and walnut. The mouthpiece is created from Pacific yew with a walnut beauty ring between it and the redwood burl body. The foot end is capped with yew sandwiched between walnut rings. Finished with multiple coats of hand rubbed, food safe natural oils and waxes. Both end caps are fully tenoned for strength and a lifetime of use.
The traditionally-shaped stretched out bird/block is made from walnut with a yew core, and sits atop an inlaid nest of walnut. The block is secured with laces of tobacco brown and tan deer hide. Below the inlaid nest is a colorful abalone cabochon that centers my hand burned morning star. This light weight and nicely balanced flute measures a total of 21-1/4" in length with a 7/8" bore diameter.
Tuned to a G minor pentatonic scale the voice is mellow and resonant. This flute is quite vibrant as is characteristic of redwood, and it plays warm with a nice natural tone, perfect for playing for the Nature Spirits.
All of my flutes are provided with a hand sewn fleece draw string bag for protection.
